Childs, Rob
Published by Corgi Yearling, 1997

Luke Crawford is truly 'football daft'. Convinced he will be number one some day, he runs the local Sunday League team as well as writing running commentaries on all their games. However, cheerful Luke has two left feet, and it is plain to all that he will never be any good. Brian Draper, however, known as 'Brain' in a cruel reference to his learning difficulties, is a first class scorer, and Luke convinces him to play in the school team. 'Frosty' Winter, their bad- tempered sports teacher, discovers Brain's learning problems and correctly diagnoses him as dyslexic - as he is himself. He sees that Brain gets the help he needs. This will appeal to football mad boys with a desire to read about technical aspects of the game. Humorous, largish print, lots of black and white illustrations.
