Emily loves Christmas - except for the idea of Santa's arrival via the chimney. On Christmas Eve, she blocks the chimney with toys, but tactful mum convinces her that what Santa does not need after a along and tiring journey is to find a blocked chimney. Together they write a note asking Santa to use the kitchen door instead and to go no further than the edge of the table. Santa obligingly follows instructions and makes it clear in a note to Emily that he, too, is afraid of some things. Emily learns not to worry about admitting she is frightened. The illustrations have a warm Christmasy feel and will help alleviate a fear that many children experience.
