Super Stars are for confident young readers, but this short, action-packed book with lots of illustratins would be enjoyed also by older, less confident teenagers. Will is being bullied by Shaun and his toughs, but being a self-reliant lad, he refuses to help them break into a computer shop. When they begin to threaten old Mrs. Cole, the local bag lady, Will knows he must help her. She is realistically protrayed as difficult and unlikeable, but he understands she is a loner like himself. Will rescues her from a burning, derelict church, with the help of a rather unwilling Shaun, who seems bemused by his own good deed. Afterwards, the two of them team up to look after her. Good at portraying a difficult life-style.
