Day by day by me
Fine, Anne (and others)
Published by The National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy, 2009
Using a diary format, this book gives a year of pages for recording seizures - the type, whether the child was awake of asleep, and what triggered the seizure. Each week is illustrated by one of our foremost children's illustrators, such illuminaries as Axel Scheffler, Nick Butterworth, Emma Chichester Clark, Lauren Child, P J Lynch and Michael Foreman among many others. Along the way there are jokes, puns, puzzles and lots of information about epilepsy. There are also tiny stickers of faces at the end of the diary that are meant to be added to the diary entries to show the mood of the day. This is a diary that children will actively enjoy using and will be a real incentive for keeping track of their seizures. Beautifully produced with a spiral binding that lies flat and a wonderfully colourful cover by Quentin Blake, this is a book that the NCYPE should be proud of. Available from: The NCYPE, St Piers Lane, Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6PW (Tel: 01342 832243.
