Goodbye Mog ISBN: 9780007149681
Kerr, Judith
Published by HarperCollins, 2002
Mog is so tired - so dead tired - that she dies, but a bit of her stays behind to see what happens -a ghost of a cat. Debbie and Nicky and their parents are terribly sad and talk about her little ways, and Mog is pleased about this. When mum brings a small kitten home, it proves to be frightened of everything - noise and carrier bags and even of being picked up. Mog decides the kitten needs help in adjusting to its new home, and, luckily, the kitten can see her. They play together, and when the family arrive back on the scene, Mog helps the kitten to accept the noise and the children's strokes. This is lovely. The fact that the old cat is still around and wanting the family to enjoy their new pet will be very reassuring to children adjusting both to death and new life.
