Little red, smiley Monkey just loves to play with his friends. The only problem is that his friends don’t always like his playful ways. Pulling Zebra’s tail, snatching Giraffe’s banana, not joining the queue for the playground slide with the Meerkats, knocking over Ostrich’s tower, and hitting Elephant with lots of balls isn’t nice. But when he bangs cymbals over sleeping Lion….. Oh dear. The admonitory voice that tells Cheeky Monkey what he should be doing when he gets things wrong, now asks him, ‘What do you need to say to your friends?’ And a meek, contrite little Monkey says, ‘Sorry’. After which they are all friends again. The bright, chalky-style illustrations on full page colour backgrounds are a delight, and the gently chiding voice in the background is obviously a parent or carer. Cheeky Monkey is led to regret his own actions in the nicest possible way and learns his lesson well.
