With minimal text and glorious illustrations, this picture book about sharing is a winner! Two red squirrels, male and female, find a patch of nuts on the ground, and each is convinced it belongs to him or her. Whilst they are quarrelling over the nuts, their animal friends appear and take sides: ‘Whose nuts? His nuts! Her nuts!’ The rabbit tries to intervene and explain they could each have nuts, but they aren’t having it and each clutches his/her own. It is only when they look at each other and realise they are being silly that they come to a compromise and share the bounty. In only ten words and very expressive pictures, they learn all there is to learn about sharing. Brilliant!
