The classic story about the use of imagination to control anger. Max makes mischief and is rude and is sent to his room without supper. His journey to the land of the wild things whose 'terrible roars, terrible teeth, terrible eyes and terrible claws' become submissive to Max - the 'most wild thing of all' - is the stuff of high fantasy. He becomes an ordinary boy again when he gets hungry and wants to be with someone who loves him 'best of all'. While the wild things are really rather cuddly, some children do find this story frightening. Check it out first, but enjoy the wonderful illustrations whatever you decide.
