A tender picture book about a little girl's warm relationship with her grandma, who has dementia. Grandma has moved in with the family because 'she can't remember'. So Margaret becomes her 'remembering'. They share stories and walks, grandma's cat and making apple pie, and even though grandma gets mixed up about some things, that's okay. But when she finally can't remember who Margaret is, the little girl is desperately sad. 'Grandma's brain is all mixed up,' mum explains, but it is clear that grandma knows the essence of Margaret and loves her, even though she doesn't remember her name. The moving, wistful pictures of Margaret and her gentle gran tell the story as much as the lovely language.
